Due to a last minute, unforeseen visa issue, artist Barnaby Barford will not be able to travel internationally to be at the MOCA reception is person tomorrow night. The artist will be available to interact with the media, sponsors and the public during two unique experiences via Skype, including the champagne preview and also at 7pm where the artist will offer remarks, visuals of his work and host a Q&A session moderated by MOCA’s Director of Exhibitions & Education Alison Byrne.
My sincere apologies that you will not be able to meet the artist in person, though international gallerist David Gill will be in attendance and if you’ve had a chance to read his bio, he is definitely a force in the contemporary art and design world and we are honored to have him here.
The party will go on and hope to see you there!
Meet exhibiting artist Barnaby Barford and celebrate with a night of all things British at MOCA. Join MOCA for a British themed reception including live music by Hubble Bash, hors d'oeuvres, an on-stage conversation with the artist and much more!
MOCA members + one guest FREE | non-members $10
BARNABY BARFORD is an artist who works primarily with ceramics to cre- ate unique narrative pieces. He works with both mass-market and antique found porcelain figurines, cutting up and exchanging elements or adding to them and repainting them, to create sculptures which are often sinister and sardonic but invariably humorous. With irony, he draws a portrait of our contemporary lives.
The artist’s career straddles the art and design worlds, holding commissions from such giants as London’s Thorsten Van Elten and the prestigious porcelain manu- facturer Nymphenburg. Barford has been featured in publications such as Flaunt, Wallpaper and The New York Times Style Magazine and past exhibitions include famed Design Miami, Frieze Art Fair and International Biennale of Vallauris.
