Michael Camden’s Campaign Launch Rally for Virginia Beach School Board

Join family, friends, and colleagues at Chix Sea Grill to support and celebrate Camden’s announcement of his candidacy for School Board Member At-Large of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools.   

Michael Camden, candidate for Virginia Beach School Board Member At-Large, invites everyone to Chix Sea Grill on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30. Enjoy a complementary appetizer buffet and an opportunity to discuss with Camden your issues and hear his view on Virginia Beach Schools.   

With Servire (Latin for to serve) as a motto, Camden is excited to serve the citizens of Virginia Beach, parents, teachers, administrators, but most importantly the students. Service is not a new mission for him as he serves on the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce (HRCC) Virginia Beach Board; HRCC Armed Forces Committee; Virginia Advisory Council on Military Education; Shadowlawn Civic League as Board Secretary, and Virginia Beach’s Transportation, Parking, and Pedestrian Committee of the Resort Advisory Commission. Michael is a proud parent of the W.T. Cooke Elementary School PTA.

As a former public school English Teacher, Camden understands the necessity for strong and positive communications, both internally and externally. With 16 years of academic operational management experience, Camden respects and expects smart money management, student success, and accountability as a result of motivated and appreciated teachers, administrators, and support teams. As an Eagle Scout and the son of a Navy officer, he was instilled with the qualities of leadership and service, which has lead to his success today. Service with purpose is Camden’s slogan.

About Michael Camden

Born at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Michael Camden is a Frank W. Cox High School graduate (class of 1983). He graduated from East Carolina University in 1987 with a Bachelors of Arts degree with a concentration in writing. Due to his passion for education, he finished training for his Secondary English Teaching Certification in 1991. In 1995, Michael completed his MBA in Management. After teaching English in the Prince George’s County (MD) Public School System, Camden moved on to a very long and  successful career in University operational leadership and administrative management. Currently, Michael works in the public relations field as Client Relations and Business Development Representative for Managing Communications Consulting. Camden’s wife, Suzanne Slack, graduated from Princess Anne High School and East Carolina University. Their daughter, Caroline, is a rising 3^rd grader at W.T. Cooke Elementary.
