“Jammin’ for Our Homeless” to Benefit B.E.A.C.H. and Homeless Community. The faith community, local businesses and nonprofit organizations will be “Jammin’ for Our Homeless” on Friday, June 4, to benefit homeless and at-risk families and individuals in Virginia Beach. The event will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

All proceeds will go directly to the BEACH Community Partnership.

A recent study estimates that 4,300 people in Virginia Beach will experience homelessness each year. “Jammin’ for Our Homeless,” which is made possible by the generosity of local band Guava Jam and the Oceanfront Hilton, is an opportunity to rally community support to end homelessness in the city and draw more attention to this issue.

“Guava Jam is made up of people of faith and enjoys helping nonprofit organizations raise awareness and funds for their causes,” says band member Matt Breitenberg. “We hope the event will not only raise funds to help BEACH accomplish its goals, but that it will also encourage people to get involved in caring for those in need.”

B.E.A.C.H. – Bringing an End to All City Homelessness – is a community partnership between citizens and faith, business, nonprofit and city organizations. The partnership seeks to better address homelessness through enhanced cooperation and communication, coordinated service delivery, resource development and new strategies.

“Individually, each entity has made an impact on the homeless community, but BEACH believes we can achieve much more by working together,” says Housing and Neighborhood Preservation Director Andrew Friedman.

“Jammin’ for Our Homeless” will feature live entertainment by Guava Jam, dancing, and light hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are FREE. Donations encouraged. Checks payble to United Way of South Hampton Roads/BEACH and mail to Lou Ann Laurance,212 62nd Street, VaBch,Va 23451 or go to www.beachcp.org to pay on line.
