This was initially started by my daughter and friends, who knew that I was stricken by a severe heart attack that resulted in quad bypass surgery...29 days before my health/disability benefits kicked in from work. The result of which left me in a very precarious spot financially. As more and more old friends signed up to perform, it made me realize that the benefit stood a good chance of bringing in more than I could possibly need to get me over my rough times. Having played at such benefits as this in the past, for musicians that were way less fortunate than I have been, it was decided that we would create a foundation for area musicians and their families who are hit by catastrophic medical events, and make this an annual event to raise funds for our local community of musicians.
