Celebrate the Navy During the 1st Ever “Fleet Week Beach Bash”

Slated for Oct. 10 at the 31st Street Park at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, VA

NORFOLK- September 2009 – The Flagship Newspaper, PortFolioWeekly.com, MyTidewaterMoms.com, and our presenting sponsor, USA Discounters, are pleased to announce the 1st Ever “Fleet Week Beach Bash.”



Fleet Week honors the long-standing relationship between the community and the Navy men and women stationed in the region through events open to the military and the general public.



This signature event is the kick off for Fleet Week 2009. Held at 31st Street Park from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., this event will showcase a variety of entertainment and activities for the public to help celebrate our Navy community here in Hampton Roads. Along with distinguished guest speakers, the event will also host the annual Navy’s Chili Cook Off. (The 1st time the Cook Off has been held on the beach!)

We felt it was time that our community stepped up to celebrate our Navy men and women during their week of celebration in a larger way. The event is open to the public, and will kick off Hampton Roads’ celebration of the Navy’s birthday during their famous Fleet Week schedule of events.

Strength of the Beach- Tug of War (kids event) on beach
Exciting Beach competitions with the public and Navy on beach
Special concert with Felicia Barton (Felicia is a local VA Beach resident and performer Most recently, she competed on American Idol)
