FIREWORKS NEAR VIRGINIA BEACH

10 On Your Side has compiled the list below of the current status of fireworks shows in Hampton Roads and the Outer Banks.  

VIRGINIA

Chesapeake:

• The 34th Annual South Norfolk Parade and Picnic in the Park was cancelled.

Hampton:

• Fort Monroe’s fireworks show is still on, and the Fort Monroe Authority will likely make the decision about cancelling the event today.  Check the website for updates: http://www.fmauthority.com/

Newport News:

• Newport News officials announced Thursday that the city's 4th of July Stars in the Sky event would be moved to Saturday.

Norfolk:

• The fireworks scheduled for downtown Norfolk and Ocean View Beach Park for Friday have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 5.

Portsmouth:

• Fireworks in Portsmouth have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 5. Additionally, all parks and recreation activities have been postponed until Saturday.

Suffolk:

• July 4^th fireworks in Suffolk have been rescheduled for July 18 as part of that night’s TGIF Concert at Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina, according to city officials.

Virginia Beach:

• Virginia Beach officials have rescheduled the fireworks at both the Oceanfront and Mount Trashmore from Friday night to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. All other events planned for Mount Trashmore will be moved to Saturday, and some of the events planned at the Oceanfront (Symphonicity, the Virginia Beach Chorale, fireworks) will also be moved to Saturday.

Williamsburg:

Barbara Brown with Colonial Williamsburg said on Wednesday that everything is expected to go on as planned and officials will make the call just before it's time to light the fuses Friday night.

The decision will be close to 8 p.m., when the Virginia Symphony begins its performance, Brown said. The fireworks show in Williamsburg is planned for 9:20 p.m.

Brown said if the fireworks are canceled, there won't be a make-up date. 

Yorktown:

• Officials say the fireworks at Yorktown Beach will depend on how soggy the battlefield is and if cars can park there. That decision will be made at 1 p.m. Friday.
• The 5K race and parade have been cancelled due to weather.

NORTH CAROLINA

Dare County:

• The fireworks show at the Avon Fishing Pier has been rescheduled to Monday, July 7 at 9 p.m.

Duck:

• The 10th Annual Town of Duck Fourth of July Parade has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Manteo:

• All events have been rescheduled to Sunday, July 6 
  

Nags Head:

• All events have been rescheduled to Saturday, July 5
