The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC), a nationally recognized leader in fine arts, is combining two Virginia favorites to create a weekend of fine art and fine artisan wine that will appeal to art lovers and wine connoisseurs alike. CAC is pleased to announce the addition of The Virginia Wine Showcase, hosted by the Farm Wineries Council, to its 54th annual Boardwalk Art Show & Festival, June 18-21, 2009.

The Boardwalk Art Show is one of the oldest and best outdoor fine art shows on the Eastern Seaboard. This event is ranked as one of the top fine art shows in the country by Sunshine Artist Magazine. This four-day festival features fine art, great shopping, and live entertainment for the entire family, occupying 17th Street to 32nd Street along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.

The Virginia Wine Showcase, featuring a selection of the best artisan wines produced in Virginia, will take up residence at the 24th Street Park as part of the 2009 Boardwalk Art Show. Visitors may spend the day enjoying both events or make a weekend of it and return for several days.

The wineries of Virginia are mostly small family-owned farms. Beyond the doors of these boutique vineyards, winemakers are patiently, passionately handcrafting extraordinary artisan wine.
Small producers can handcraft wine in ways that just wouldn't be possible in large industrial operations. The ability to personally cultivate the wine from first bud through fermentation makes a difference you can taste with the first sip.

Wines produced by the wineries of Virginia are hard to find in your local grocery store. The State’s boutique wineries simply don’t produce enough inventory to make it into major distribution channels. To find these rare wines, you typically have to go to each winery’s tasting room out on the farm.
Approximately 100 wines will be featured at the 2009 CAC Boardwalk Art Show & Festival. Participating wineries include Amrhein Vineyards, Bright Meadows Vineyards, Chateau Morrisette Winery, Cooper Vineyards, Davis Valley Winery, Holly Grove Vineyards, Lovingston Vineyards, Piedmont Vineyards and Tarara Winery.

The mission of the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) is to foster awareness, exploration, and understanding of the significant art of our time. We’re pleased to partner with the Farm Wineries Council of Virginia to showcase the Commonwealth’s locally-grown artisan wines.
