The victory celebration for the 2012 Calder Cup Champion Norfolk Admirals will take place on Wednesday, June 13, from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.
The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a parade on Granby Street. The parade will begin on Plume Street and conclude on the Norfolk Scope Plaza at 5:00 p.m. The Honorable Mayor Paul D, Fraim will preside over the festivities, which will include entertainment, food and beverage available for purchase, and the chance to purchase Admirals Calder Cup Champion gear.
In addition to the celebration, the Admirals have teamed up with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to shave the Admirals’ playoff beards to benefit pediatric cancer research. Admirals players and staff such as Eric Neilson, Scott Jackson, Mike Angelidis, Ken Young and Joe Gregory will have their beards shaven off on the Scope Plaza with donations benefitting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Fans may donate at the parade or by visiting shavetheadmirals.com.
In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved inside Norfolk Scope Arena.
The Norfolk Admirals have won the 2012 Calder Cup Championship after defeating the Toronto Marlies in the best-of-seven Calder Cup Finals, four games to zero. Norfolk earned its first ever American Hockey League championship last Saturday afternoon at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, after a 6-1 victory over the Marlies in Game 4.
