Know where to go!
The Mayor will honor the Right On Band, a Virginia Beach-based musical group, by proclaiming Sunday, Aug. 9 as “Right On Band Day.” A special ceremony will precede the band’s performance slated for 6 p.m. at Neptune Park, 31st at the oceanfront. The event and concert are free and open to the public.
“The Right On Band has helped put Virginia Beach on the map in the musical arena,” said Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. “This group has played at several presidential inaugurations and balls, as well as events like New Year’s Eve at Times Square. We’re thrilled to celebrate their success by proclaiming Aug. 9 as Right On Band Day.”
The Right On Band was formed in 1997 by Michael Fafard. Band members held their first performance at the Virginia Beach oceanfront and have since traveled the world. Known in the music industry as “The World’s Greatest Show Band,” the group’s repertoire includes hits from the 1970s and 1980s, along with original songs.
