Know where to go!

As musically speaking the great stunning Dave Matthews Band doesn't have a whole lot in common with the Grateful Dead, outside of the tendency to jam the songs out to the delirium of the fans. Where the bands meet is in the work ethic and devotion to the fans to be out there throwing a wonderful and huge party summer after summer. The well known DMB has trekked through Pittsburgh just about every year for the past decade and a half, but diehard fans are going to have soak up the PNC Park experience on Saturday and hold onto it, because as the band announced in this spring that there will be no 2011 tour.

As the Band has announced plans to take a break from touring in next year 2011, so it came as no surprise to find Blossom Music Center filled to capacity Friday night for a 2½-hour going-away party. Fronted by singer-guitarist Dave Matthews, a previous bartender from South Africa (by way of Virginia), this Grammy-winning group got the sold-out bash started with “Big Eyed Fish,” a midtempo tune with a touch of bluegrass. Matthews, 43, told the crowd it was good to be back at Blossom.

It is official via the Dave Matthews Band website DMB, with opening act Jason Mraz, will be perform two shows at Wrigley Field on Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18, when the Cubs will be finishing up a road trip in Miami against the Marlins. They will only have three days to get the field back in shape for a home stand that starts vs. the Giants on Tuesday, September 21. Wrigley is the latest historic ballpark Dave Matthews band has played over the years. The band is that they have also performed at Queens, NY’s new Citi Field on July 16 and 17.

The Dave Matthews band another festival veteran musician, was when he met Bob Dylan. Matthews says, “We played right after Dylan played and he said, ‘I didn’t play ‘Watchtower’ because I thought you would play it.’ That was a high point for me. I suppose everybody is a crazy fan of Dylan so to have him acknowledge my existence in any way was kind of sweet.” Besides Bonnaroo, the DMB will also play the Hullabal. OU Music Festival on July 25 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky and the Mile High Music Festival on Aug. 15 in Commerce City, Colo. The group is currently scheduled to wrap the tour on Sept. 15 in St. Paul, Minn. The Band became one of only two groups in chart history to have five consecutive studio albums enter atop the chart. Big Whiskey was among the Top 5 best-selling albums on iTunes in 2009. Enjoy their concerts live by getting cheap Dave Matthews Band tickets online.
