2010 World Oceans Day Celebration

The Virginia Aquarium is celebrating the 50th birthday of Dr. Seuss’s One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish as part of our World Oceans Day celebration. There’s so much fun to have at the Aquarium, we extended our celebration and we’ll be partying from June 5th through the 8th. The below activities occur June 5 - 8 unless otherwise noted:

One Fish, Two Fish, TRUE Fish, Blue Fish Scavenger Hunt

Dr. Seuss came up with some zany names, but did you know that some of the zaniest you will ever hear belong to fishes in the Aquarium? Kids and parents can take a multiple choice quiz that lets them guess the true names of fishes. Something extra fishy will be going on in some of the Aquariums as well. Search and see if you can find those red and blue fish!

Fish Face Painting

Get your face painted to look just like your favorite fish friends: 11a.m. – 2 p.m.

Become King or Queen of the Ocean

Decorate a World Oceans Day crown and be king or queen of the ocean for the day.

Oh Me! Oh My! Dive Program

Come and see a lot of funny things go by during our special dive program in the Red Sea Tunnel Aquarium beginning at
1 p.m., June 6, 7, and 8.

One Fish, Two Fish Toddler Tuesday (June 8)

See a special Dr. Seuss-themed puppet show at 11 a.m. at the Marsh Pavilion. The perfect place to read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is surrounded by ocean friends in an aquarium setting.

Dr. Seuss Story Time

Dramatic readings of his classic tale One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and other stories will occur throughout the day interspersed with questions and comments about ocean diversity and relatable fish species.
