Ahhhh, The Crush.  Waterman’s signature line of fresh-squeezed citrus cocktails, and the drink that has created a cult-like following since Waterman’s was the first to bring their Original Orange Crush to Virginia Beach.  Last year, thanks mostly to the power of the Crush, Waterman’s bartenders served nearly a half-million of the fresh-squeezed drinks.  To put it into perspective, if their bartenders balanced them all along the rail of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, the cups would stretch end to end.

But wait. There’s more. The cocktail went viral, inspiring it’s own line of T-shirts and glassware, and a summer kickoff party started in 2009 called Crush Fest, which now attracts 10,000+ people to the nearby Holiday Trav-L-Park.  Crush Fest 2012 raised $52,000 for a local charity, the Virginia Gentlemen Foundation, in addition to other fundraisers throughout the year aiming to “Crush” breast cancer and other diseases.

“That’s the power of the Crush,” says Waterman’s owner, Mike Standing.  His bartenders can make a fresh one in five seconds flat…a feat that gets put to the test every Spring as Crush Fest continues to grow.
