e of the most anticipated fights of the year will headline UFC 135 t
his Saturday in Denver, as UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones pu
ts his title on the line against former PRIDE and UFC champion, Quinto
n “Rampage” Jackson.\n“Bones” Jones won the title back in Marc
h, defeating Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Jones’ performance in that b
out had fans and pundits referring to the then 23-year-old fighter as
the future of MMA. However, before Jones can truly begin his ascent t
o that level he will need to get past the veteran—and some would say
legend—Rampage Jackson.\nJackson has no intention of letting the yo
ung upstart get past him at Denver’s Pepsi Center and has on more th
an one occasion claimed that he will be getting “his” belt back fr
om Jones on Saturday night. \nJones enters the fight with a career re
cord of 13-1, with his only loss coming via disqualification for illeg
al 12-to-6 elbows during his December 2009 bout with Matt Hamill. Jone
s has only gone the distance in two fights during his career and earne
d unanimous decision wins in both of those contests.\nJackson made his
MMA debut in 1999 when Jones was just 12 years old. Since then he has
amassed a career record of 32-8, going 7-2 since joining the UFC in 2
 007. Jackson’s two losses were to Rashad Evans and Forrest Griffin.
Jackson is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, recently defe
ating Lyoto Machida and Matt Hamill.\nThe co-main event on the card wi
ll be Matt Hughes versus Josh Koscheck in a bout that will see both fi
ghters returning to the cage after taking time off after losses. Hughe
s will be back in the Octagon for the first time since losing to BJ P
enn via a 21 second knockout in November 2010.\nKoscheck has not foug
ht since losing to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in Dece
mber 2010. Koscheck suffered a broken orbital bone during the course o
f that bout, an injury that ultimately required surgery.\n \n\nFor mo
