 ns as they pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and pr
 otected our country and fought for our freedom. The parade starts at 9
  a.m. and formal ceremony at 11 a.m. \nPlan to pay tribute to our ser
 vice men and women at the annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade and Cer
 emony. This year’s procession kicks off Monday, Nov. 11, beginning a
 t 9 a.m. at 16th Street and Atlantic Avenue, and ends at the Tidewater
  Veterans Memorial at 19th Street, across from the Virginia Beach Conv
 ention Center. The city of Virginia Beach has been hosting the Veteran
 s Day parade since 1970, and the event is sponsored by the Hampton Roa
 ds Council of Veterans Organizations and co-sponsored this year by the
  Fleet Reserve​ Association.\nParade lineup includes:\n\nThis year�
 ��s Grand Marshal, Capt. Manual A. Hipol, MC. USNR (Ret.), and Co-Mar
 shal, Capt. Kenneth Golden, USN (Ret.)\nRepresentatives from various v
 eterans organizations including the American Legion, Disabled American
  Veterans, Fleet Reserve Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars will
  participate\nHonor guards from the Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virgini
 a Beach Police and Sheriffs’ departments, Virginia Beach Fire Depart
 ment and Langley Air Force Base\nBoy Scout and Girl Scout troops from 
 across the area, drill teams and more\n\nFollowing the parade, a forma
 l ceremony will be held at approximately 11 a.m. at the Tidewater Vete
 rans Memorial.\nThe Veterans Day Proclamation will be read by the Hono
 rable William D. Sessoms, Jr., Mayor of Virginia Beach, with special g
 uest remarks by Captain Manuel A. Hipol, MC, USN (Ret.), past presid
 ent of the Hampton Roads Council of Veterans Organizations and this ye
 ar’s Grand Marshal.​​\nFollowing the ceremony, there will be a 
 dedication at the William L. “Bill” Myers Veterans Memorial Park h
 onoring veterans whose names were engraved on memorial pavers in the l
 ast year.Immediately following, a luncheon honoring veterans will be 
 held at the Double Tree Hotel across from the Convention Center (cost:
  $20/person).\nFor five consecuctive years, the city of Virginia Beach
  has been selected as a designated Regional Site for the observance o
 f the Tidewater Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony by the Office of the 
 Secretary of Veterans Affairs. The Department of Veterans Affairs’ V
 eterans Day National Committee selected the city of Virginia Beach as 
 one of 44 designated sites nationwide that serve as a model for commun
 ity events in honor of our nation’s veterans.\nThe Hampton Roads Cou
 ncil of Veterans Organizations and this year’s parade cosponsor, Fle
 et Reserve Association, along with the Mayors of Chesapeake, Norfolk,
