DESCRIPTION:\nTHE MEANING OF VETERANS DAY: A celebration to honor Ame
 rica's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness
  to serve and sacrifice for the common good.\n\nJoin the Hampton Roads
  Council of Veterans Organizations as they pay tribute to all the men 
 and women who have served and protected our country and fought for our
  freedom. The parade starts at 9 a.m. and formal ceremony at 11 a.m. 
 \n\nThe parade route will start from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront o
 n Atlantic Avenue and 16th street and proceed up 19th Street to a revi
 ewing stand at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial (across from the Virgin
 ia Beach Convention Center).\n \n              Immediately fol
 lowing the parade a short ceremony will be held at the Tidewater Veter
 ans Memorial and a luncheon honoring our Veterans will be held at the 
 Doubletree Hotel next to the Virginia Beach Convention Center at appro
 ximately 12:00 PM.\n\n             The Veterans Day Parade
  is sanctioned by the Department of Veterans Affairs National Veterans
  Day Committee and the Mayors of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suff
 olk and Virginia Beach who sign a proclamation resolving that “citiz
 ens, businesses and organizations demonstrate due appreciation, admira
 tion and respect for all veterans who have served our great nation”.
