The Sandman Triathlon is a sprint triathlon consisting of:

• 750 m ocean swim conducted in the direction of the current

• 13 mile bike on a flat course

• 5K run on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.

Numerous age group awards, weight division awards as well as awards for the Open Division will be presented.

The event is capped off with a great post-race party in conjunction with the awards ceremony.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT CONSISTS OF AN OCEAN SWIM. ATHLETES SHOULD BE AWARE THAT SURF CONDITIONS CAN SOMETIMES BE ROUGH AND SHOULD BE CAPABLE OF HANDLING THESE CONDITIONS BEFRORE DECIDING TO ENTER THIS EVENT.

Event schedule and times:

Packet Pick-up: Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 1:00-6:00 PM -- Location TBD

Race Day: Sunday, Sept 21 

• Transition Area Opens: 5:30 AM

• First Wave Starts: 7:30 AM

• Post-Race Party: Approximately 10:30 AM

• Awards: Approximately 11:30 AM

Course Time Limits:

• 750 meter swim: 45 minutes

• 13 mile bike: 1 hour, 15 minutes

• 5 kilometer run: 1 hour
