 udes Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport
  News, Hampton, Williamsburg, Franklin and Courtland, as well as on th
 e outer banks of North Carolina. In addition to club gigs, Jim and his
  musical companions have performed at major area festivals, including 
 Norfolk's Harborfest, Chesapeake Jubilee, Suffolk Peanut Festival, Nep
 tune Festival, Stockley Gardens Art Festival, Cannonball Music Festiva
 l and the Ghent Arts Festival. They have played for large corporate fu
 nctions, wedding receptions, civic club picnics and events at the Chry
 sler Museum of Art, the D'Art Center, the Contemporary Art Center of V
 irginia, Norfolk Botanical Garden and the Rawls Museum Arts. Jim has a
 ppeared on the local commercial television programs, \"Live at Nine\" 
 and \"Morning Break,\" and is well known by viewers throughout the reg
 ion for his long association with PBS-affiliate WHRO-TV.\n\nJim Newsom
  has a large and extensive playlist, allowing each performance's setli
 st to be tailored to the occasion. In clubs designed for listening, th
 e band will emphasize its jazz and improvisational abilities. In a dan
 ce setting, the guys crank out a rhythmic pulse to keep the crowd movi
 ng. For a cocktail reception, the group plays it soft and mellow. In f
 ront of a large festival audience, Jim and his musical companions ligh
 t up the stage with their mix of finely tuned nuance and improvisation
