The Story of the Quilts:
In an effort to honor her wonderful son, Josh, and all other ALS patients, Kathy Thompson invited quilters from across America to join her in the Hopes & Dreams Quilt Challenge for ALS. Kathy's goal was to raise awareness about ALS , to warm the hearts & laps of ALS patients and to raise money for research through the sale or silent auction of select quilts. The response was amazing! An astounding 1,400 quilts were sent by quilters from around the nation and Canada.
The artful talent of these generous quilters is only matched by the deeply personal and meaningful stories that accompany each quilt. To showcase the beauty, the art and uniqueness of each quilt - the quilts will be displayed and available for purchase at Richard Stravitz Sculpture & Fine Art Gallery at the opening reception on September 30 and then daily from October 1 - October 18. ALL proceeds from the sale of quilts and raffle tickets will go directly to the ALS Association research initiatives and are Tax Deductible. Remember - quilts make beautiful gifts and Christmas is coming!
PS: In conjunction with the JT Walk & Beach Party on Sunday, October 3rd our friends at various businesses on Laskin/31st and the boardwalk will display quilts the weekend of the walk. Thanks to these businesses for showing their support!
