  Polar Plunge® Winter Festival is Special Olympics Virginia’s large
 st fundraiser, attracting more than 10,000 people to an otherwise dese
 rted beachfront in February. Individuals and teams, alongside our athl
 etes and thousands of community members, experience heartwarming and b
 one chilling extremes as they take the plunge into the icy Atlantic Oc
 ean in the height of winter! Anyone can participate; those under 18 mu
 st have a parent or guardian signature.\n\nOther crowd favorites inclu
 de the Boogie Down the Boardwalk Costume Parade and contest, musical e
 ntertainment, a gigantic sand sculpture, a Friday Night Plunge Party, 
 Pee-Wee Plunge (for kids 10 and under), a Saturday morning 5K (new in 
 2011!), as well as vendor displays and giveaways.\n\nDon't just catch 
 any cold this winter...catch this cold! Take the Plunge.\n\n2011 Polar
  Plunge Schedule of Events:\n\nFriday, Feb. 4\n\n10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
 Cool School Challenge; Cool School Plunge takes place at noon\n\nNoon 
 to 7 p.m. Early Plunge Registration/Check-in & 5K Registration/Packet 
 pick up, Ramada\n\n6-10 p.m. Friday Night Plunge Party featuring local
  band Butter (under Main Tent, at the end of 7th Street on the beach).
 \n\nSaturday, Feb. 5\n\n7 a.m. 5K Registration and Packet pick up, Ram
 ada\n\n8:30 a.m. 5K run along the Boardwalk\n\n10 a.m. Winter Festival
