Event Description

Whether you’re taking the icy dip or participating as a fan, there's plenty to do on Plunge day aside from taking the Plunge! From the gigantic sand sculpture to the new Friday night Plunge Party, it’s a guaranteed good time. The festivities start at 10 a.m. Saturday; the actual plunge takes place at 2:30 p.m.

Make it a get-a-way weekend and be sure to check out these cool Plunge festivities:

Friday Night Plunge Party – Start your Plunge weekend early! New for 2010, the Friday Night Plunge Party is the place to be. Get your dancing shoes on as local band Butter rocks the stage. And be sure to grab your friends and sign up for our cornhole tournament. Competition will be split into two divisions: – social (no experience necessary) and competitive (for cornhole connoisseurs!). Trophies will be awarded to the top social teams, with a cash prize at stake for the winning team in the competitive division.

Plunge Party festivities will run from 6-10 p.m. under the main Plunge tent, located at the end of 7th Street on the beach. Tickets are $10. Adult beverages and food also will be for sale. All ages welcome.

Get your tickets today! Call 877-874-7462 in advance; tickets also will be sold at the door. For more information on cornhole or to sign up for the tournament in advance, visit the Virginia Beach Cornhole site.

Gigantic Plunge Sand Sculpture – Team Sandtastic will join us Friday with buckets and shovels in hand. From start to the finish on Saturday afternoon, they will build one of the largest and most incredible sand sculptures you’ve likely ever seen. Catch them in action and ask for tips from the experts!

Ice Carving – The ice chips will fly as local artists turn 320-pound blocks of ice into impressive ice sculptures.

Kids Zone – The Polar Plunge® Winter Festival is a family affair so pack up your children, friends and neighbors and stop in at the Kids Zone, which features inflatable rides and visits from a few local favorites, including the Virginia Beach Fire Department’s Monster Fire Truck!

Other Plunge entertainment includes live music, tasty treats, vendor displays and of course, the Plunge! There is no fee to view the Plunge, but a $5 donation is required to access the heated tent and festival area on the beach.
