Hello Friends! In November, Hampton Roads residents can support homeless relief services while indulging in a week's worth of cultural and culinary events when the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center (JCOC) presents a special event series during Homelessness Awareness Week, November 7-12, 2010 in VA Beach, VA. Based on the theme, "Walk In Their Shoes," all events are tagged "...on a shoestring," JCOC provides free meals, housing and comprehensive rehabilitation services for the region's homeless.

Homelessness Awareness week events will begin on Nov.6 with a benefit concert by the Tidewater Friends of Folk Music at 7pm at the Meyera Obendorf Regional Library. Admission by donation... suggested donation is $10 per person. All proceeds go to the JCOC. Entertainment by The Sound Crew - Tangent & Riggs and Lane

November 7 at 3pm is a "Walk In Their Shoes" journey from the JCOC campus at 1053 VA Bch Blvd to the 24th Street Stage at the oceanfront. Participants will enjoy live music by Heather Vancleave and hear testimonials of JCOC residents.

>"Dining On A Shoestring," Nov 9 & 11, during which participating VB restaurants will offer 10% of their net sales to the JCOC - restaurants include: SIDE STREET CANTINA, NEW MOON CAFE, 501 CITY GRILL, CHICKS OYSTER BAR, ATLAS,

>"How to Shop On A Shoestring" seminar, Nov 10 at 10AM at the JCOC Thrift Store (1805 VA Bch Blvd)

>"Nutrition & Exercise On A Shoestring" workshop, Nov. 10 at 8PM at the JCOC FEATURING JIM WHITE

>"Lunch On A Shoestring," throughout the week, encouraging local workers to pack their lunches and donate the cost of "lunch out" to the JCOC. **IT'S NOT TOO LATE to sign up to participate. Email jcoc@jcoc.org today to sign up!**
