COLLECTING USED OR NEW MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR HOLA AND THE ORPHAN NETWORK

WE ARE SUPPORTING HOLA (Helping Orphans in Latin America) and OrphanNetwork who help children who live in poverty. Many members of our community are active in the above organizations and have visited Managua, Nicaragua on numerous occasions to aid the orphans at Casa Bernabe, an orphanage near Managua. They report that it is "truly an eye-opening experience to see the plight of these children and our efforts to help them have been moving and personally rewarding."

Andy Kline, one of the active members of the group, has come up with a novel idea to help the self confidence and esteem of the kids and initiated a program of music instruction and the formation of a band at the orphanage. It has been a huge success and to witness the children singing and playing their instruments for church services and concerts is very touching. HOLA and OrphanNetwork are so excited about the initiative and would like to expand it and introduce it to other orphan centers.

So….we are asking you to look in your closets, attics, basements, game rooms, etc. and see if you have any long forgotten instruments which you could donate to this worthy cause. Bongos, guitars, electronic keyboards, trumpets, saxophones, etc., anything would be most appreciated. If you find something that you would like to give to an enthusiastic recipient please  email me at nicole@vbnightlife.com and I will make arrangements to pick it up.
