Event Description

Béla Fleck is often considered the world’s greatest banjo player. Others claim that Fleck has virtually reinvented the image and the sound of the banjo through a remarkable performing and recording career that has taken him all over the musical map and on a range of solo projects and collaborations. If you are familiar with Fleck, you know that he just loves to play the banjo, and can play it in almost any setting! Brooklyn Rider is the superb young American string quartet famous for stretching boundaries well beyond the point where lesser groups would snap. Their collaborators range from Yo-Yo Ma to Suzanne Vega to Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man; they’ve recorded everything from Persian folk music to Debussy with grace, spirit, vigor and profound insight. Together they will play original compositions by both Fleck and the quartet as well as some classic bluegrass for good measure!
