 he Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout began in 2004 – born out of a Virg
 inia Beach fisherman’s love for angling the shores of the Atlantic a
 long the Virgnia Beach oceanfront. It occurred to him, as it has to ma
 ny, that not only are the waters off of Virginia Beach plentiful with 
 fish, but they truly offer as good – if not better – fishing than 
 anywhere on the East Coast. Proving it would become the passion of the
  tournament director, Mike Standing. This passion has catapulted the M
 id-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout to become the largest Rockfish tournamen
 t in the country and has helped Virginia Beach garner its proper angli
 ng recognition.\n\nGIVING BACK: To date, the Rockfish Shootout has pro
 vided thousands of pounds of skinless rockfish filets to area foodbank
 s (well into the tens of thousands of individual meals). Also to date 
 they have donated over $25,000 to CHKD to help build a family room at 
 the hospital. Several thousand more have been donated to a local schol
 arship fund, a local fisherman in need and various other fishing relat
 ed organizations\n\nRegistration Fee: $500 if registered before Decemb
 er 28. $550 after midnight on December 28 through 10pm the night of th
 e Captain's Meeting. If registered prior to December 28, you will be e
 ntered in our \"Nobody's A Loser\" drawing for 3-$1,000 cash raffles t
